January Investigation

The last day in January, did this month go fast!!! It was a great, crazy month. Hope every one had a good first part of the new year!

A lot went on this month, I painted my fingernails and had a fun time with my cousin.

Did hard geometry of course. (this is my last year in school)

Worked on cutting out my pattern for my sewing project. I will be doing a post on that soon.

Had some good breakfast shakes

Read 4 books. Did a review post on two of them. Night Break, and The Giant Killer. I read Pilgrim's Progress for school. All of them were good. I Just finished a book called Bella at Midnight, It was so good. I think it is my new favorite fairy tale.

Lovely snow days.

Awesome pics!

Got payed.
Dyed my hair again. Did a post on that.

Entered a poetry contest. GOT SELECTED! very excited about this! My poem will be in a published book I am so happy!!!! Will tell you more on that soon.

Wrote a short story "Flowers Have Mysteries" and entered into the blog battles.  Haven't wrote a lot lately. Still working on my West Rover story. Editing my Lawrence-book-mystery. Writing a short story that is now 26 pages long.
Trying to think about publishing stuff and keep putting it off.

Went to work last Thursday and had a crazy flight. ( I fly pipelines with my dad)
The airplane started leaking oil all over the windshield. We had just passed a dirt airstrip that my dad had landed at before, we landed there. Just in time. It took a while before we got someone to help us get to a phone ( we forgot the cellphone). Called mom to bring tools to fix the airplane. We got the airplane fixed and back home.
The next day we had to finish the pipeline. Very nervously we took off and started flying the pipeline. Once in a while we could smell smoke because the left over oil was falling on hot pipes. We got through the pipeline when we heard a funny noise in the engine. I had no idea what it was. We did get back home and landed. I was so thankful. We found out the exhaust piece had broken. Dad plans to fix that soon and the plane will be ready to fly again.

Lots has happened not sure if I can remember it all.....

Started a Ballet exercises doing dancing and a 30 day Splits challenge.

We got a big wind storm it was 30 mile winds for 3 days; it has finally stopped. Not fun, so cold.

Well the last of my news. but not least: We are planning a trip to Florida, I am getting excited; we will be going in February; we have been planning early, everything is about set. We are going on an airline. I haven't been on one that I can remember so it will be a cool experience. I will still be blogging, more or less I will have things planned out and the post will be scheduled. I will still be able to reply to all your comments.
I may be taking a break right before the trip. I will warn you when that comes.
So stay tuned.

Alright I have a few questions about what I should call my monthly review. What do you all like best? January Investigation, Monthly Up Date, Monthly Rap Up, or just pictures of the month? Want me to mix it up like I have been doing? Tell me People.

What have you been up to this month?
Has the new year sunk in yet?

Flowers Have Mysteries (Short Story)

Hi everyone today I have a short story for you I got this idea out of the blue and wrote it in two days and edited it fast. It is my first short story to write with less than a thousand words. Don't know if it if flash fiction or not. It was suppose to be than in went to 600 words. Hope you like it.

Flowers Have Mysteries
By Rakayle Hier

“Do all flowers have mysteries?” the detective, all trim and fit, asked himself, as he looked at the flowers on his desk.
“Not that I recall,” his scrawny assistant remarked as he came into the office. It was cluttered and the only thing brightening the room was a window and now the flowers. The assistant was pretty sure he had never seen flowers in the room before.

“But you see, Lane!” The detective jumped up excitedly gripping his assistance arm. “There is a mystery here and I’m going to solve it!”

“Where did they come from?” Lane asked slowly.

“I don’t know.” The detective’s mustache twitch like it always did when he was thinking. “The secretary brought them in. Said they had been dropped off for me. No one sends me flowers!”

“Is there a note?” Lane asked.

“A note? Of course! There could be a note.” The detective searched the flowers and vase. He quickly came up with a note. “ Ah, ha!” He brought it forth and read it. “‘Did you miss me?’ Do you you know what this means Lane?”

“No. Are one of the men you sent to jail out for revenge?”

“No, it is quite obvious,” the detective explained. “You see, if you look at the flowers. They were plucked from a field and not bought from a shop.” The detective snatch a flower from the vase. “ See how the ends are uneven? If they had been bought from a shop they would have been cut evenly. Now if it was a threat from a former enemy they would have to been in the country or if he was real devilish stolen some from a pot. He would have to be poor, but here is another reason I think that is not the case.

“This vase you will notice is quite old and has some use, see?”

“Yes, I see.” Lane nodded at the crack in the vase. “But he could have bought it second hand.”

“Yes, he could have, but if he was poor and went to buy second hand, why would he buy an expensive Japanese vase?”

Lane shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Of course you don’t.” The detective nodded. “No... see the note. Look how there is an imprint on the paper like someone had to erase the sentence; like they couldn’t figure out what to write. If it had been someone who wanted revenge he would have known what he wanted to say because he has been thinking about it for such a long time.”

“He could have misspelled a word.”

“The note says ‘did you miss me?’” the detective said in exasperation. “How could he misspell those words?”

Lane threw up this hands. “Ok, why don’t you tell me who sent the note!”

“Why of course, Lane. You see, it’s my mates Sam and Lester they dropped off the flowers to be discreet and to tell me they have a lead. You see this mark on the paper?”

Lane squinted at the paper. “It’s a squiggle.”

“Yes that was my first clue it was from them. That is what I told them to mark on their messages. The eraser on the paper was them messing up the message, they do that some times.”

“Heinz! Your impossible!” Lane swished his hand at him and turned to leave.

“Thank you, Lane.” The detective looked down at his note. “Don’t you want to know what they said?”

Lane snapped his head around the door edge. “What?”

“I thought you’d be interested. They messaged to tell me Hank Wilson is in town and he is out for revenge.”

If you would like me continue the story I will. I have another story in process so stay tuned.

Hidden Messages// Cracking Codes

Every detective and spy need to know about codes. They are fun and you might want to write a secret message. Here are some types you can use for fun. Try making up your own too.

I think Codes have always been interesting. Anything with a secret and some thing hidden is a mystery of some sort and I enjoy solving anything like that. Who doesn't?

Codes

First lest look at different types of codes and how to use them.

This first code you might have seen before. What you do is draw two up and across lines and X's like you see in the picture below. The first set is plane and the other set has dots. Now to make a message form the letters and boxes or V's to will look like this: ㇗㇘ ᒬ (cat) ᐱ ᐳ (M K) the T has a upside down L thing and a dot. The M and K are upside down ans sideways V's.
It is easy to do it on paper.

This codes (in the picture below) is the alphabet switch around so the letters above equal the bottoms letters. It is called the key board codes because it is just the Key board alphabet. YPI MCABO?

This is an alphabet code with the letters switched up and so on. TXXJ TX SPM AZYU

This one is easy to understand it is just number from 1 to 26 for A to Z.  try for yourself:
1 13 2 21 19 8!

Cyphers

Ben Gaits: "Its an aphendore cypher."
Riley Pool:"Oh...whats an aphendore cypher?"
Patrick Gaits: "Just codes."

Yes the movie National Treasure is a good example of some cool Codes and Cyphers. Some other books or movies to look up if you want to learn about some codes: Books:  Big Book of Spy Stuff,  The Nancy Drew Sleuth Book, Artemis Fowl ( first book has a cool code), Peril on Providence Island, Trixi Belden, Hardy Boys,... Movies: National Treasure 2, Tintin,

Here are some cypher like codes.

In this one below there is a number sequence on the paper it is 3 2 4 1 5. Then you take your sentence "this is easy! and write it all together like it is in the picture. Now take those letter and put them in the number order so SRY HVA TSE IES IY! this is your cypher and unless some one has the code it will be hard for them to crack the message.

Ok this next one is the most difficult to understand and put together but will also be very hard for anyone with out the crack clue.

Alright to first we need the picture below there if you can see it is the part of the cypher. There is the alphabet. A=***** B= ****B and so on the B in the sequence means BOLD ( you might see that on the paper). So the ***** is five letter in a poem or book a group of words that look harmless. The next picture will be our sentence.

See the sentence below in the picture "to be or not to be". Anyway what you do is have that word group I will type it below the picture so you will under stand it better and I will explain.

to be or not to be that is the question to die or to live that is the question the time of life is short and the pain of death is gone.

See the bold print in the paragraph? That is how the code works above. so you slice the works into five letter. See below. Than you can see the pattern.

tobeo rnott obeth atist heque stion todio rtoli vetha tisth eques tiont hetim eofli feiss horta ndthe paino fdeat hisgo ne

Can you solve it? Go ahead and try. Highlight for the answer: TURNED UP GOOD EVIDENCE

Alright I have one more cypher for ya and after we can get to some things about cracking codes.

This one is where we have a box with numbers on top and letters on the side like in the picture below.
Pick your number and letters and your message you scramble you message and add extra letters in your box. Now write down the key. I have it on the paper. 2x 2y 4z 3y 2z 5z  you only need one of each letter even if there is more in your word. The answer ( highlight): AMBUSH

Solving Codes

Say your the one who is trying to crack a code; there are some tricks to cracking let alone just knowing some normal codes.

First of all you should know what the most used letter are. It has help me a lot in code cracking. In order on frequently used : E is the most used letter... T A O I N S H R D L C U M W F G Y P B V K J I X Q Z.

That should help some. It also is help full if you have an idea on what the message might say. You will be doing a lot of guessing.
Also try to figure out what a signal letter in the message might be like I or A next try a two letter word AM or AN or AT  there is a lot of them so try three letter words like THE because it is used a lot. Look for messages that have things like capital words, bold words, every other letter.

Wow that was a lot of work! Hope you all enjoyed this; there is so much to codes I think I may do another post on this some time. If you all would like that?  If you want to learn some more on these codes check out 42explore2.com they have different links there all of them don't work anymore but the one that does work  has some good stuff.

Do you like to codes?
Did you solve the codes above?
Do you know any other codes I didn't do?

Book Review: Young Sherlock // Night Break

The 8th book and so far the last in the Young Sherlock Series by Andrew Lane. If you have not read the first ones I recommend you read them!!!

So I finally got around to reading Night Break. I fully enjoyed it and wanted to do a review about it. It is a excellent mystery although not much came as a surprise to me like some of the previous books.

The Review

Sherlock is visited by his brother and he brings bad news. Sherlock, Mycroft, and Matty, quickly head off to the Holmes estate were things soon get strange. Masked men break into the house. They are chased away, but Sherlock wonders what they were looking for. They didn't steal any valuables. When they got to see their sisters suitor more strange things happen. A letter is discovered that tell of a sabotage. Can Sherlock stop it?

The Good things

This one has got to be one of my favorites it was very interesting! I liked to be able to learn more about Sherlock's sister and really liked James Phillimore. The story is fast pace and I had a lot of fun guessing what was going to happen. I was right one time, spot on. The other times I think I had more of a conspiracy thought up than the writer did. *shrugs*
Sherlock learned to sward fight in this one, which was awesome you could really learn something about it form Lane's descriptions. I love to learn things from books!!
This book was published in England so the editing is slightly different than American books, I think that is cool!

The bad things

There were not too many bad things about this book. The beginning of the book is interesting though it kinda gave a little away, but also made things mysterious. I also wished to know if Sherlock's sister was going to get married, Lane never really settled that part. This is also the supposed last book. He might write more but it could be a while. It seemed like a good ending yet somethings were left hanging.

Over all I enjoyed this book and all the rest of the series! I want to read some other books Andrew Lane has written; they should be good as well. I also need to read some of the original stories of Sherlock Homes.
If you want to keep up to what I'm reading find me on goodreads.

My WIP // West Rover

Hay every one, today I am excited to share a little about my WIP.

I got this idea after watching the movie Nim's Island in 2015. West Rover became my main characters name. He was a cross between Indiana Jones and Alex Rover in the movie Nim's Island. I starting  writing it in March but I didn't do a lot of work on it for a while, although it was always on my mind. Finally this last year I started writing this story and haven't stopped. I first started writing it for the 100 for 100 challenge. That was in May. I am still writing it; though I am getting close to the end. I hope to finish it before February but I don't know if that will happen. I have been slacking off lately.

My story, The Adventures of West Rover, Siding with the Enemy. I plan to make it a series.

This story is set in the 50's but they are on an island so there isn't much to hair styles and such. I about had a big problem with pictures because of the fact than the characters didn't have 50's hair styles. But in the collage above they do have that style.

I write in a note book, the story has taken two notebooks so far; it might be going on to a third.

Here is the intro...

It swings in the midst of a dangerous fall,
What a rickety thing it might hit the wall,
unless you can fly,
You better go by and by.

West Rover has a mission: go to the island, find the book, and bring it back. but nothing in life is that easy. West Rover finds himself caught by natives and soon to be a sacrifice, but an old acquaintance Ace Cutter intervenes, and he isn't doing it for a thank you. He is after the treasure, the book (written long ago by an explorer) leads to by riddles. Cutter needs West's help to decipher the riddles, and West doesn't have much of a choice.
The jungle thickens and more troubles arise. Questions are presented, are riches evil? Does God exists?
West has choice to make, that will be the difference between life and death.

Here today you can meet some of the Characters.

West Rover the main character and hero of course. He wears a brown leather jacket and long brimmed fedora. He caries around with him a bull whip and two revolvers; they get taken away from him in the story. He has blue eyes and blond, brown hair. In the jungle he has his hair wavy. West is just coming for the book (which is journal that was left in the jungle) to take it back to a rich man who wants the book. In the states West is an archeologist professor, who is more into adventure then teaching. He has a temper that gets him into trouble.

Ace Cutter the enemy. He wants the treasure (a crown) and is willing to do anything to get it. He wears a long black coat and a brown hat. It is not in the picture. He has plenty of fire arms along with his Hench men to keep West in line. He has brown eyes, blond hair, and a commanding attitude.

Indigo works with Ace; he is a mysterious boy to West, who looks to be from Arabia. He packs a rifle and  knives are stuffed in his rugged boots. His job is to keep an eye on West. Emmit is Indigo's pet pine martin. This little creature climbs around, causes trouble, and helps out as well. They make a threatening team. West is determined to make friends with them.

Snips from the book.

"Cutter," West said under his breath, "run!" Cutter look at him. "What?"
West gave him a serious stare. Cutter moved just as an arrow thudded into the rocks, splitting in half.

As West walked along he flipped through the book, stopping at his mark. West saw that the page was ripped out. He stopped in his tracks. It was gone, it was there before, so it must have been recently torn out. But who? And why?

West rubbed his head a big lump was forming. What did Cutting hit him with? And where was the devil?

"Do you have a plan West?"
"I may... if you give me my whip."
Cutter paused before saying, "Nice try, West."
"This isn't some swindle Cutter."
"I've heard what you can do with the whip," Cutter remarked.

➤Some of the snips may change after editing.

This picture above is some of my sketches inspired by my story.
I hope to do another post at some point about my WIP. There may be some more collages and maybe some music.

*Disclaimer some pictures for the collages were found on Pinterest or the Internet.

Book Review: The Giant Killer

This was the first book I finished this year. I haven't had a lot of time to read but this one I went though in a few days. I  loved it! It is a rare book, I first heard the audio drama.. Which is epic! if you have ever heard of Lamplighter Theater you know they have great dramas and awesome stories.

It took me a while to find this book. I got the book on on amazon. Not form Lamplighter because the books are expensive. And I really don't want to spend twenty doors. This is a cheep version with typos but it didn't mater it was such a neat story.

The Review

This is about a battle, this is an allegory, this is about children and a story that changes how they look at themselves. A internal war that they take to the heart and it changes everything.

The Good things

I love most everything about this story; it's so inspiring. There are illustrations through out the book. I always love illustrations in books, I wish there where more books with illustrations.

The real life mood to it all. The children are sweet and so real; what we all do when we do not like all someone else or have a problem. Even maybe with our siblings. This fight is real and this book brings it to light.

The other part of this story is about Knight Fides who must battle the giants of Hate, Selfishness, and more. He must battle these giants for the King on his journey. When his fight is complete he will go to the city Beautiful. It  is all very interesting!

The Bad things

I can't really that there is too many bad things about this story. Besides typos. This old book written in the 1830's is very easy to read. Some parts where slow and I wished there was more about Fides and his battles. There is a second book called The Battle so maybe there will be some more giants in the next one.

The author Charlotte Maria Tucker wrote under the pseudonym AOLE (a Lady of England).
So you might find her stories under either name.

How to Dye Your Hair with Kool Aid

OK, here we are I got everything together and dyed my hair again for this tutorial. Hope you enjoy.

Ever wanted to dye the tips of your hair a different color like blue or pink? Well doing it with Kool-Aid is cheap and easy. Plus there is no chemicals, so there is no hair damage. Just don't use sugar or it will make your hair sticky.

First of all you need to get your supplies, or be like me and wing it using whatever you have at home.

You need: The color of Kool-aid you want your hair to be dyed. I used two packets because someone else used that many and I wanted the color to be bright. I picked light pink again I was going to do blue but we didn't have enough packets of Kool aid.
Next get a brush or comb, a cup or mug, hair bands, and paper towels or a towel, whatever you have. The kool-aid might stain your shirt so ware a old one. You can also get some rubber gloves and put them on; I didn't cuz I didn't have any and did not mind if my fingers got a little pink.

Boil your water than pour it into your mug.

Add the Kool-aid to the hot water. I let the water cool slightly tell it didn't feel burning hot.

This was before I dyed my hair about a month after I dyed it pink the first time.
There is still a slight hint of pink but not much.

You can put your hair in pig tails or a braid last time I did a braid this time I did pony tails.

Once you have decided the color, you can dip your hair in the mug.

I dunked my hair up in down in the hot water.

Not sure how long but once you see the color in the hair. It will look less colorful when it is wet. the cooler the water gets the less it will be dying your hair.

Use a paper towel to dry off your hair a little bit.

You can brush it out when it is about dry.

And there you have it, the finish look.

If you want to see what my hair looked like the first time I dyed it go HERE.

DO you want to try to dye your hair?
What color do you want to try?
Have you ever did it before?
Tell me below...i'm always interested in hearing from you all.

It's Almost August

How is more than half the year gone by? I've been enjoying the summer. I love summer.  It's been a very rainy year which is so grea...
