May 2020 Investigation

Another month has past.

It has been a full month. A very good month, I got a lot done that I am quite happy about.

Had my brother's party on the second. It was a star was party. Who would guess?

I made him a robe. I finished just it before his party.

The weather had been getting nicer. Flowers are popping up.

Been riding horses when it isn't raining. Did assessments and went to a horse clinic; I learned quiet a bit, it went all day, I got sun burned and was sore after, but I was happy I got to go.

Been flying and working my pipeline job. ^ got to fly this cool airplane.

Solo keeps changing his color he is shedding of the extra white now. He is looking more blue roan. He turned one on the 24th.

I started reading Ben Hur. I was hopping to have it done by now. I kind of got started on a story that I think is going to turn out bigger than I planned. That is what you get for not figuring out the ending to your short story before you write it. It's quite a neat story, I've been having a lot of fun with it.

I signed up for 100 for 100 at Go Teen Writers. Been sewing a bit trying to finish up my dress.

I've been taking some online zoom dance classes, I've really been enjoying that. Of course this month was full of Star Wars on this blog. It's been a ton of fun. I will be doing some more Star Wars Looks later, not sure if I will get to many this month. I will also be doing some other star wars stuff soon. I think I will be doing some more writing post this June though.

We branded on the 26th. It went well. I also got an Instagram. You can find me at rahwrite.

What have you done this month?
How are things going for you?

Star Wars Looks Leia on Hoth

This is one of my favorite looks that I have done. They have been fun.

Another Star Wars Look outfit, I really liked putting this one together. I used items I already had and made do. :) Course I try to pick outfits that will work with what I have.

This is the outfit that Leia had on Hoth. It's a really fun look. Here is a picture from the movie of her Hoth outfit.

I think the hair turned out really good. She sort of has two different hair styles but this one she has on Hoth. When she heads to Cloud City her hair is a little different. I like both looks.

Make up was fun. I did a better job this time. I have red lip color, any red or pink color will work. Some pictures of Leia looks like she had red but a few look like she had pink lip color. I have foundation and a small amount of blush. I was following what I saw in the picture. I have mascara and eye liner. When I get around to doing a tutorial I'll tell you some secrets about the makeup.....

I have a jacket that works really well. For the movie Leia has a white jump suit and vest.

I have white pants.

And brown boots, the same ones I used for Luke's outfit. Leia had gray boots in the movie. I lack all colors except brown; I need to get my act together and get some other colored boots.....

Here are the other looks I have done

How To Make a Jedi Robe

Here is my experience of my first time making a Jedi robe. And a guide on how to do it.

I was making this for my brother for his birthday. It was a surprise so, I had to do a lot of measurements in secret. HAha...

I found this fabric on Ebay. It's a broadcloth polyester blend. It was cheaper from a lot of other fabric I was looking at. It's a bit thin, but it wont get as hot as a thicker fabric. There are different types of fabric you could use. The real robes from the movies are wool, it's expensive so most of us won't be using that. I might try it sometime... ^^^ In the picture above I have my fabric laid out (on my bed). I measured how long I wanted it. It's 60 inches across so it's quite long for the arms. My brother is around 5'7 so I wanted the arm length to be long. If you have 44 inch fabric you need to double it, so you have it like my fabric with an 88 inch sleeve across the top. I have the fabric folded in half and the top isn't cut. I didn't have a pattern so I found some instructions (here), but kinda did it my own way. and I learned a lot. I measured around 60 inches from the top to the bottom. And marked it off.  Next folded in half again, so it has 4 layers.⇩

I got a shirt that fit my brother and used that for a fitting guide. First I measured to 22 inches from the top (at the edge) where it is folded down. You want a long sleeve, it looks really good. After I measured the 22 inches down I went up (see pic^) at a diagonal; I went up to the arm pit. I would advise though to go a few inches across with 22 inches than go up. It would make things easier. And remember to allow for sewing a seam. With no pattern you need to make it a little bigger.

Next I went down at from the arm. I also had the fabric longer than the robe was going to be cuz the extra at the bottom is going to be for the hood. I would make the bottom with a slight curve not like I did.

Mark it where you want to cut. Next cut it out. Give it room. Make it how loose or tight you want it to fit.

Here ^ have it all cut out. After that I need to cut out the front of the robe. If you have 44 inch with you won't have to cut that. So one layer of the folded side is cut for this robe. ⇩

Above we have that cut. I pined it close so I could keep the cut in the middle.

I had a bit of a trouble with the collar spot. Now that I know, haha go three inches form the middle cut on each side and come down sparingly. If you can actually fit it to who you are making it for do that. I did it on myself. It worked out fine.

For the hood. I should have done it differently ..... but here we go; for the hood you want to use the extra fabric that you should get from the bottom of the robe. Which I cut off the robe to make it closer to 5' 5 because it drapes from the shoulders not the head keep that in mind when you measure....
So you want to cut the end in one rectangle. But I ended up having to sewing the ends together ^^^.

At one end after you fold in half you want to sew it up, do some testing on someone that you can see, so it looks like you want it to look.

With the leftover fabric from the side of the robe I used that to fold up the raw edged it also gave the sleeve more length.

Unless you want to line the robe (I didn't) You have to use some extra fabric to cover up the raw edges down the front.
I didn't get any pictures putting the hood onto the robe, but it isn't hard, I had no problems. First you want to gather it up, someone said to gather the parts inward. So facing the middle. I pinned and sewed the gathers after I got them to match the collar length. Next I pinned and sewed the hood to the robe.
I put a hook and eye at the front so it could be closed and stay.

After hemming it together and stitching up the raw seams with a zig zag stitch, it's completely finished. "The maker and the creation," as my brother said.

I think it turned out really good. It's not perfect, and I have a lot of room for improving. A few things were quite hard. I couldn't seem to get the overlaying fabric to cover the raw edges at the front perfect. I had a time limit so I just kept sewing away instead of going back. It's okay though, this is for my brother to have fun in. It's not being judged.

Star Wars Looks Padme (red outfit)

Since it was Mother's day I wanted to do A Star Wars Look of Padme Amidala, her red outfit.

This outfit is a little more casual and not too close to her outfit in the movie. It's a fun though.

A picture of her red outfit in the first movie The Phantom Menace. I was a bit rushed so the pictures are a bit strange... Just go with it.

I went with the red pieces that I had. I don't have a lot of red clothing for some reason. Any shoes would work. I don't have any shoes for this outfit.

I went with simple makeup, it don't have any white foundation, and for a everyday look you wouldn't need that. I have normal foundation on, red lips stain, to match her lip look. I do actually recommend a lip stain instead of a lip stick because, as I found out, a lip stick will smudge and mess up the look. I also put on some mascara. From the pictures I looked at, I didn't see much eye makeup on Padme. Go ahead and try different looks though.

I have a red shirt that is high necked and red pants. If you have a red dress, that would work good too, because she is actually wearing a dress, or her decoy .... I do like this outfit. The makeup is really fun.

What is your favorite outfit of Padme's?
Which Star Wars character do you think I will do next?
And don't worry this month isn't going to to be outfits only...

Star Wars Looks Luke and Leia

May the 4th be with you! Today I have a special post.

I've had a lot of fun with this post. I really enjoy dressing up and challenging myself to look like a character. These outfits are all from clothes I already had. My idea was so that you could wear these two outfits them anytime anywhere. Come on who doesn't want to look like some one from Star Wars all the time! LOL.
This is going to be a series of this so more outfits are coming....

This is the first outfit I decided to go with because it was easy was Leia's outfit at the end of A New Hope. I have a white shirt under this white dress, white leggings. She has white or gray shoes, but I could't find my gray flats.

I don't know if I like how the hair turned out. I need to work on that.

I did a bit of make up maybe too complex because I don't think it made me look that more like Leia. I did pink lipstick some blush and contour, eye liner and mascara. If ya ever want a full tutorial on how I do her make up/// I'm better now. Let me know.

I also tried a longer dress for this look, but I liked the shorter one better, even though it is not as accurate.

This outfit was based off of Luke's outfit when he battle's Darth Vader the second time in the last movie ( episode 6) from the first ones made.

I went with a black turtle neck shirt.

Not much make up. Cuz he doesn't have any.

Black glove and pants. I don't have any black boots so I went with my brown ones a have.

I did even more characters so I will be doing some more posts like a series. Let me know if anyone would like to have a contest of dressing up like a Star Wars character.

All this month I'm going to have fun Star Wars posts. SO don't miss out and come back soon. May the 4th be with you!

My Favorite Youtubers (Workouts)

Hi everyone, today I wanted to do a post on my favorite youtubers for exercising. ( I always do a workouts at home, and I find all of these videos fun and helpful. Also as you will see I really like dancing and ballet centered videos.

Kathryn Morgan

I love all her videos even the ones that are not workouts or ballet classes. The Workout above is one of my all time favorites, though she just let out a new barre that I really love.

She has some great split stretches that I literally do every day. In my split post I have some of her videos on that.

Coach Kel

Coach Kel's workouts are great, really challenging, some of them repeat more than I would like, but most of them are awesome.

These two videos are really good ones that I like to do.

Mad Fit

I really like her ab workouts. I don't always do her workouts, but they are easy to follow along.

I really like how here workouts are set up.

Lazy Dancer Tips

I do about every new workout or barre she has, she has a great variety and they are always great. If I want to do an easy day she has a short workout to do. She has long ones as well, sometimes I do two.

Lately I have been doing about an hour barre or workout than stretch. I don't always do a workout from these youtubers, though these are my favorite, I like to try new a barre and stuff. Let me know if you want to more about that.

*****Tomorrow I am doing a extra post. So don't forget to check that out. ****

Are there are any workout videos you like?
Have you tried any of these?
