Starting to Sew My Project

I said before, I might do the giveaway, but it wont happen today. I haven't got the books yet so I am waiting for that. Don't worry though it will be sometime this month. Okay on to my sewing post.

You might know that I have been working on a historical outfit. I did two other posts on this. Now I have started sewing.

First I practiced some sewing on the machine seeing how it would sew the velvet. I finally found the right tension.

I went on to sewing the interfacing to the velvet. I did it with needle and thread.

Almost done with that. So much work! Not sure if I will do that again. I am not a fan of hand sewing, I am learning to persevere.

After I have finished the basting I will move onto the under facing. At least there are less pieces. I might machine stitch though. I just do NOT WANT TO MESS UP. They say that you should hand sew some of the Velvet at first so it doesn't slide. Yeah well hand sewing isn't slip free either.

Thankfully I have had no bad misshapes. I have found out I hate polyester thread, (I think I have come up with something to help that). Don't worry I wont hand sew the whole jacket... I hope.

This is the March sewing. I hope to get more done, as fast as possible, without worrying too much and just enjoying the project.
This post is a little short, but this week has flew by. I am kind of out of time to make this longer.

Have you ever hand sewn anything?
What has been a hard project for you?
Tell me below!

  1. I am currently hand sewing my quilt. I've never worked with velvet, but seems like a hard fabric ;D I've had tons of hard projects though lol. The hardest was probably this baby robe made out of fleece that shreds. And I ... even ran over my thumb with the machine and the machine needle broke in my thumb. That was painful lol.

    1. I think I seen that quit on you blog, it looks really nice! Velvet feels like a nice fabric and I can't say it was too hard to machine sew.I just know it can be slippery. Oh, fleece that shreds sounds like a hard project. Oh... That sounds very painful. That is my worst nightmare to run over my finger. ;)

  2. Good luck on completing the rest of your project! I’ve never personally sewn anything before - my hands lack the skill and precision required to be able to do anything like that. XD

  4. I'm excited to see the finished project! Using a sewing machine can be helpful, but very frustrating!

    1. Yes I know! I love my sewing machine, but this has got to be right...so I work by hand for now. ;) I have had a few times when my sewing machine was really frustrating! I am getting better at making it work for me and not against me.

  5. That's so cool!! I can't sew a single stitch. Never cared for it when I was younger, and now I don't have any time to attempt learning it.
